Inspiration
We were inspired to create the Commercium Auxilium app after seeing firsthand how Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and other underdeveloped regions struggle to grow economically and industrially—not because they lack talent or ambition, but because they often lack the necessary infrastructure, resources, and supportive policies. We realized that raising awareness and providing tools for action could make a real difference, and that’s where our idea began.
What it does
Commercium Auxilium is an interactive, educational app designed to shed light on the challenges faced by LDCs. It offers users insights into the current economic and industrial conditions of these countries, explains the ongoing efforts by organizations like the United Nations to address these issues, and empowers users with practical ways they can contribute to positive change—whether through donations, advocacy, volunteering, or spreading awareness.
How we built it
We started by creating simple design models on Canva to map out the look and flow of Commercium Auxilium. Once we had a basic vision, we moved into development using MIT App Inventor. Through a process of trial and error, constant testing, and refining, we gradually turned our ideas into a functional, interactive app. Each iteration helped us improve the user experience and better align the app with our original mission.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we faced included issues with time, as some of us could not make it on all the days, or we had to leave early. Coding was also a huge issue, because the code can only be worked on one computer, making it a slow process. We all do not have too much experience in coding, so we had to figure out a lot of things in the past two days.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One of the things we’re most proud of is how, despite being a group of almost complete beginners, we came together, learned new skills, improvised when challenges came up, and ultimately created an app that fulfills the goals we set out with. Every step—from understanding the basics of app development to overcoming technical roadblocks—was a learning experience that made the final product even more meaningful to us.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we as a group gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the many ways organizations and individuals like us can help support their growth. At the same time, we learned a great deal about coding, app development, and the creative process behind building a functional, user-friendly product. From researching global issues to mastering new technical skills, this experience helped us grow both as developers and as global citizens.
