Inspiration

As hall residents, we often find ourselves asking our neighbours and friends when we need to borrow anything. To make it convenient for residents to borrow items without the trouble of contacting people one by one, we decided to create commboxx.

What it does

An application where residents can look for items to loan, as well as listing their own items for loan. Users who wish to loan items could then contact the other party via a Telegram link

How we built it

With reactjs and redux, and a sturdy Flask API with MongoDB backend of course :)

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time making a web application from scratch, thus we had to constantly think of and experiment with the layout and structure of the application. Trying to combine front-end and back-end, there were a lot of learning and experimentations along the way. Our team also lacked designers so getting a comfortable application design was a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The app works!

What we learned

We learnt how to integrate front-end and back-end work together to make a functional app.

What's next for commboxx-app

Some features are not fully implemented yet (e.g. registering, login). In future versions, a credit system is to be implemented where users who lend more items and return items on time will acquire higher credit, giving them priority to borrow high demand items.
