Inspiration

I was inspired a lot by the idea of empathy being based on perspective. This led me to think about literally using camera perspective to convey the idea of metaphorically seeing someone else's perspective. In coming up with this idea, I was also reminded of a game I saw a while ago that used a second-person perspective. In terms of the graphics, I mainly took inspiration from games and other media that I have seen which use toon/cel shading.

What it does

It's a story based video game with PvE elements.

How we built it

I built it using Roblox Studio.

Challenges we ran into

I think the main challenge I ran into was doing the camera manipulation to achieve the different perspectives. It was quite difficult to figure out how to get the camera to move where I wanted and make it focus on the right subject by using a specific reference.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm very happy that I was able to figure out how to do camera manipulations. I think what I am most proud of though is how the toon shading turned out in combination with the evironment layout I designed.

What we learned

Within Roblox Studio, I'm happy that I was able to learn how to use Remote Events to communicate between the server and client.

What's next for Comical Civility

While the main game concept of perspective is there, I think the PvE combat mechanics could most definitely be improved to make the game more interesting to play.
