Inspiration
Sustainability has long been an issue regarding every aspect of our daily lives. One of the more explored areas of this broad topic is the emission of fossil fuels leading this discussion. Yet every day Americans use over 4 MILLION Metric tons of CO2 itself. As proud comets, we decided to take a stand with CometDASH!
What it does
CometDASH is a RideShare style app akin to Uber and Lyft whose main goal is to decrease the carbon emissions produced by commutes to and from the university campus
How we built it
Using React Native and FireBase as our database, we created a stylish UI with reactive components that allow users to input their financial, location, and temporal data in order to fetch a list of the best possible rides that match with their request.
Challenges we ran into
FireBase was very tough to implement into our React Native app, so we decided to focus on the UI implementation to best show our approach to solving the problem of emissions.
What's next for CometDASH
Integrating our current UI with a Firebase database to be able to pair them instantly with a driver and some riders to get them to their destination.
