CoMed

The aim of this App is to ease the process of distribution of vaccination of the COVID-19 virus once the vaccination is produced and is ready for the people.

Inspiration

The inspiration for making the App comes from the idea of creating order and preventing plausible chaos that can be created once the vaccination are developed. One of the main reasons for the rise of the virus was lack the fact that the people were not aware of the extent of the problem and hadn't completely followed the rules laid down. This app has been made with intention to prevent that problem.

What it does

The aim of this App is to ease the process of distribution of vaccination of the COVID-19 virus once the vaccination is produced and is ready for the people. The app allows users to register and choose the date of vaccination which. they can also change before the due date based on that they are given a hospital close to there vicinity which changes if the user changes their date. This system of picking the date in advanced would keep a check of max 50 people in one hospital on a particular day and would also allow the Hospital to be prepared for the people. The app would lead to a systematic flow thus creating a sense of knowledge as to what is going. It also shows a countdown of the days remaining for the vaccination day the user has selected.

How I built it

The app was built using Flutter and was connected to a Firebase backend. We made a Login/ SignIn page that uses the firebase authentication. Firestore is used to store the data. We used the geolocation API to get the current location of the user and thus the permission to use the location of the phone was taken at the start. Google Places API was used to get the data of the hospitals based on the users current location.

Challenges I ran into

Firebase connectivity was a challenge we had to overcome. Firebase was something new that we hadn't worked on before.It was eventually figured out and everything was working thereafter. Google Places API was something that was new and discovering it was really exciting .

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The major accomplishment that I'm proud of is that without having any knowledge in Firebase we managed to figure it out work with it. Learned about some new API's, Finally were able to make something we could show.

What's next for CoMed

Technical Aspects :

1) A parameter alarm will be placed to ensure social distancing is maintained. If any 2 users of the app come closer than a particular distance.
2) We also intend to provide the user with a feed section to showcase the latest news.
3) Plan to incorporate mail service reminders to alert the user about any Covid cases detected in its vicinity.

Business Aspects :

1) Increase awareness about the app using social media marketing.
2) Think of evolution plan so as to find a way to keep helping the community after the vaccination period is over.
