🧠 Inspiration
Everyone loves a good comeback — especially one that’s clever, confident, and just the right amount of savage. I wanted to create something playful and viral: a tool that helps people respond to insults, roasts, or annoying messages with witty, AI-generated comebacks. The goal? Turn silence into sass.
⚡ What it does
Sassy Comeback Generator lets you type in a rude message or situation, and instantly gives you AI-generated clapbacks, comebacks, or savage one-liners.
Example:
“You’re always late.”
AI Responds:
“I like to arrive fashionably late — it’s called making an entrance.”
Features:
- Input box for the insult/roast
- “Generate Sass” button
- 3 comeback responses
- Copy buttons to use instantly
- Optional: tone selector (funny, sarcastic, brutal)
🛠 How we built it
- Built UI using Bolt.new in a single day
- Created a fun, bold, centered layout with a clean input area
- Used OpenAI API for generating sassy responses
- Designed each response as a styled card with a copy-to-clipboard button
- Added light animations and responsiveness for a polished UX
🚧 Challenges we ran into
- Tuning the prompt to make the comebacks clever but not offensive
- Making the tone toggle (funny vs brutal) actually change the response style
- Keeping the UI light and fun while still functional on mobile
🏅 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fun, fully working app in just a few hours
- Got genuine laughs from testers (and a few mic drops)
- UI is playful and fast — great for mobile and social sharing
- Shows how AI can be used not just for work, but for fun
📚 What we learned
- Prompt engineering is key even for humor generation
- Fun apps go viral faster than utility tools sometimes
- You don’t need a big feature list to create something delightful
🚀 What's next for Sassy Comeback Generator
- Add categories (Workplace, School, DMs, Family gatherings)
- Share to X/Instagram with click
- Add voice/speech output with a sassy voice
- Let users save their favorite comebacks
- Launch a Chrome extension or iMessage integration
