CombineNJ

Our inspiration for CombineNJ stemmed from a critical observation at a hackathon: New Jersey, despite its rich athletic talent pool and dense population, paradoxically makes it incredibly difficult for aspiring athletes to gain visibility with recruiters. We set out to solve this by building CombineNJ, a dynamic digital scouting card that empowers athletes to showcase verified stats and highlight reels, while providing coaches with an AI-powered search tool to efficiently discover talent. We rapidly developed the platform, leveraging modern web technologies to create an intuitive, dual-sided marketplace. Among the challenges we navigated was integrating diverse data sources and ensuring a seamless, engaging user experience for both athletes and time-constrained recruiters. We are immensely proud of creating a functional, impactful platform that addresses a genuine need, and through this process, we learned invaluable lessons about the unique dynamics of sports recruitment in a high-density state. Looking ahead, we envision scaling CombineNJ through strategic partnerships with NJ athletic associations, continuously enhancing our AI capabilities, and expanding our reach to ensure every talented New Jersey athlete has the opportunity to be discovered.
