Inspiration

While I was watching a movie one day, one of the characters was revealed to have undergone mutliation of her clitoris. In rapt interest and concern, I went down a rabbit hole on the internet and learnt more about how it victimized young girls and women.

What it does

My website has two key purposes. It informs and it provides resources. The primary resource that I have embedded is a map of Canada with labelled shelters that girls and women can escape to.

How we built it

I built this website using html and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

I don't know much about front-end development so I had to use the tutorial the Girls Recode provided. It was very helpful but I still had to do a bit of research on my own. At the end of the day, I think I have a new appreciation for front-end development and the work that goes into maintaining a website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I could learn a new language and use it to some efficacy.

What we learned

I learned how to format elements in CSS and use html as a whole.

What's next for Combating FGM (Female Genitalial Mutation) in Canada

As I learn more about web development, I'll try to improve the quality of the website and add more resources to help women not just in Canada but throughout the world.
