Built at HackRPI2015

Inspiration

We had a Phillips Hue lamp which is able to display many colors using RGB coding. We also care about security of the computer so we wanted to try using a lamp and computer camera in an unusual way.

What it does

This program inputs the image and it tries to isolate the main color in the screen.

How I built it

Using Visual Studio and Aforge Frameworks. We spent a long (long) time trying to us OpenCV which ultimately did not work.

Challenges I ran into

OpenCV was not working too good for us which wasted a large amount of time. Also we lost two group members which hurt our productivity. Also SQL was not happy when we were making the login components, need to do more research. Also outdated software.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Used C# for the first time! Actually made a cool program using Visual Studio. Worked with people we didn't know when we got to RPI on Saturday

What I learned

Hackathons are fun

What's next for ColorLoginCamera

Figure out how to integrate databases.
