More than 4.5% of the world's population is color-blind!
Not to mention this is only those who have been clinically diagnosed and have severe cases when in fact many more have at least some degree of color-blindness which might not be enough to be diagnosed, but still affects their daily lives.
Here comes Colorify 🎨.
Our goal is to create an easy way for individuals with color-blindness, regardless of severity, to be able to browse the internet worry-free and experience the colors as they are intended. Hence, we concluded that the best approach to this would be to create a Chrome-Extension as this would allow users to have quick and easy access to our application on any webpage they visit.
What it does ⚙️
- Color-corrects webpages for multiple types of color-blindness
- Allows users to easily adjust the level of color-correctness to match their personal needs
- Features color-test to determine user's color-blindess type/level
- Works acorss all webpages
Technologies Used 🧰
- JavaScript
- HTML 5
- CSS 3
and... a lot of git branches and pull requests! 🌳
How We Built It 🛠️
- Developed an interactive Figma prototype as part of design process
- Developed an elegant UI using CSS and Bootstrap
Challenges we ran into 🚧
- Understanding how the extension communicates with the user’s webpage and vice versa.
- This was everyone’s first time building a chrome extension so there was a learning curve.
- Testing the product was difficult since none of us are color blind. Luckily we found a color blindness simulator which helped us develop the best possible product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🌟
- Learning about the many types of color-blindness
- Creating an elegant user interface that anyone can use
- Creating an adjustable color-correctness feature
- Saving user's selection preferences for future use

- Collaborating as a team REMOTELY
What's next for Colorify?🚀
