The idea was born out of necessity. My team and I were talking about which color we wanted to make an element in our website, and after thinking, I turned around and picked up an item that had exactly the color that I wanted. The team agreed, and proceeded to try to match the color on the computer, which took a little while. From this I said, "Wouldn't it be great if I could just take a picture of the item and just give you the color value?". From that moment, Colorblind was born.
What it does
You take a picture, select a pixel, and see the color value in RGB or hex. You can also save it, see complementary colors and copy it to the clipboard to easily send it to others.
How we built it
We are using Ionic.
Challenges we ran into
I had a technical nightmare with my laptop and had to make several workarounds to even proceed with development. Other than that, with the project, Nothing too difficult. Finding the RGB value and creating the magnifying glass was a bit hard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is something practical that I will be using pretty often, so I'm proud of this aspect.
What we learned
The best ideas are ones that solve problems.
What's next for Colorblind
I'm going to be polishing it up and sending it to the app stores.
