Coloc Calcul: Budgeting with Roommates

In Canada, 15% of young adults (ages 20–30) live with roommates—a demographic exceeding 1 million people and growing annually. Within these households, we often find the "Accountable Roommate": the person who tracks every expense, manages the bills, and ensures everything is split fairly.

However, these roommates quickly face "admin fatigue" from manually tracking debts, sending payment reminders, and trying to forecast their month-end balance. Existing solutions often miss the mark either proving too complex (like Rocket Money) or feeling more like a social media platform than a financial tool (like Splitwise).

Coloc Calcul bridges this gap by providing a budgeting app designed specifically for the household unit. Key Features:

  • Streamlined UI: A clean interface designed to integrate seamlessly into the busy lives of young professionals.
  • Shared Households: Easily create a digital home to share and split expenses with roommates in real-time.
  • Integrated Ledger: A dual-view system that allows users to track personal spending, collective household costs, and outstanding debts in one place.
  • Spending Forecast: Visualize monthly trends and use basic projections to answer the ultimate question: "Can I treat myself this week?"
