Inspiration: We were inspired by our own experiences with the stress of college applications, specifically that it is unnecessarily difficult and inaccessible at times.

What it does: Our project takes in data about American colleges and Universities from the Common Data Set and transforms the naked statistics into digestible, easy to understand graphs and statements on our website.

How we built it: We began brainstorming by discussing issues we all had faced before, college admissions being one of the main common denominators. We began by having our program take in the data from multiple schools' common data sets for multiple years. Then we began writing our html files, followed by styling with css files and completing functionality with javascript.

Challenges we ran into: We ran into some slight bugs in our javascript code, but with the help of mentors we completed the project successfully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: We're proud of the wide range of css and javascript knowledge we have demonstrated throughout our project as well as fact that our project will be able to help people applying to college avoid the undue angst that having to painstakingly comb through every CDS document causes.

What we learned: We all helped teach each other new things about our own areas of expertise, sharing our knowledge on front-end back-end development and on web design.

What's next for CollegeStatsFast: We hope to continue being active participants in computer science communities like MLH!
