Inspiration
As seniors, we just finished applying to college. For many of us, it was a challenge especially in organizing all the items to submit: essays, EC's, and more. Some used Sheets or Excel which works but often gets messy. What if there was a better-integrated system that contains all the required material for college and makes accessing it easy? What if it also streamlined the entire process?
What it does
Our project is a website that contains all the required material and information about each college. It contains your common app personal statement, extracurricular info (hours, how it benefited you, etc), and information about each college such as acceptance rate, etc.
How we built it
We built it using node js, HBS, and Tailwind CSS for the frontend. We used VS Code with the Live Share Plugin so we could all code at once.
Challenges we ran into
Some of us haven't coded much using Tailwind CSS so it was a learning curve to research how to center items, scale, etc.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing a working system that can be utilized by many.
What we learned
Tailwind CSS is very useful, and working in a Gym is not the most optimal.
What's next for College/University Management System
Currently, we simply have the basics of a college application process integrated but in the future, we can implement more features such as acceptance rate calculators, admission deadlines, and more.
