College Selector

Inspiration

Helping international students select colleges and universities in America.

What it does

Gives students prompts on what type of university they prefer and outputs universities that match their specific criteria.

How we built it

Using react (especially the mui component library).

Challenges we ran into

Challenge 1: Changing direction from a ratings website for TA's towards a matchmaking website for international students and U.S. based eduational institutions.

Challenge 2: Attempting to implement a database using python, which resulted into pivoting into mainly a front end based program.

Challenge 3: Having trouble pushing code and merging scripts together towards the end of the program building.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1. Installing and learning about GitHub Copilot.

2. Learning how to collaborate together using Git paired with VS Code.

3. Learning what VS code is.

4. Developing a prototype of our website.

What's next for College Selector

1. Implementing an API that would have live data regarding flights based on frequent student travel times.

2. Working further towards creating a python database where univeristy information can be stored and modified.
