College Helper

Inspiration

As a junior in high school, it seems like my life's main purpose is to get into a top college. This kind of a website when i was in 8th grade or in freshman year would be very helpful as information about college admissions can get very confusing.

What it does

This website helps students in high school find the college they want by offering virtual tours. It helps them get questions answered with live support, and helps them study for APs offering resources and collaboration spaces.

How we built it

Using asp.net core, I created a webserver and hosted a variety of html, css, and javascript pages for the frontend and used c# for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Talking to the backend from the frontend proved to be a challenge, and UI design proved to also be a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am very happy with the look of the website, along with the chatroom.

What we learned

I learned that web development takes lots of time and should not be rushed.

What's next for College Helper

I may decide to add more and eventually publish it as a full website.
