Inspiration -

Seeing the pain of millions of college applicants get rejected from most of the colleges they applied for just because they never knew that they were qualified enough to get into that college or not. Not only did these students lose precious time, effort and money but they lost confidence in themselves and suffered from depression after knowing that they were not able to get in.

What it does -

College Chance Predictor takes the guesswork out of college admissions. In our project we take the numerical parameters(GPA, SAT, ACT) into consideration just like how the admissions officers do to predict your chances of getting admitted.

How we built it -

We implemented the project using python and Django as a back-end framework and HTML, CSS for user interface.

Challenges we ran into -

Understanding these new technologies and framework(Django) was a challenge for us 9th graders but we learned it and implemented it successfully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of -

We completed the project with a high prediction accuracy rate as the predictor can predict suitable colleges which the students are recommended to apply. We were also successfully able to implement Django framework which was foreign to us.

What we learned -

We learned new technologies and interfacing between back-end and front end, we also learned collaboration skills and we learned that being persistent brings in the best results.

What's next for College Chance Predictor -

Building an AI/ML based model to predict the chances using intangible factors like extracurricular activities, research projects, internships and essays. We also want to expand the scope of colleges to countries all over the world.
