Tech is still overwhelmingly male-dominated. For many women in computer science, the hardest part isn’t is actually finding a community. There aren’t enough safe spaces to connect, exchange skills, or collaborate meaningfully. Opportunities are fragmented across dozens of platforms, making it difficult to grow together. That’s where CollabHer comes in. We’re building a peer-powered platform where women in CS can learn, teach, and thrive together. With features like skill swapping, profile matching, a dynamic community feed, direct messaging, and curated events, CollabHer makes it easy to connect with people who share your interests or have the skills you want to learn.

We built this project with a mobile-first mindset, focusing on simplicity and connection. We designed a clean login flow with customizable profiles, an interactive feed where users can post, like, and comment, a search tab for discovering skills and people, and integrated messaging and event discovery for real-time collaboration. The biggest challenge was striking the right balance between functionality and user experience. We wanted to make the platform powerful without overwhelming users.

Despite these challenges, we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished. In a short amount of time, we created a working prototype that reflects our mission. We built a clear user flow from signup to skill swapping and proved that a small, focused team can turn a shared frustration into a real solution. Through this project, we learned that community starts with empathy, not just code. Simplicity and clarity matter more than over-engineering.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to make CollabHer even smarter. We plan to integrate intelligent matching algorithms, partner with universities and hackathons to grow our user base, and add premium features like mentorship circles and verified profiles. CollabHer isn’t just an app — it’s a movement to make tech more inclusive, collaborative, and empowering, one connection at a time.
