Inspiration

We were inspired by the SwiftUI workshop at the event, and the simplicity of making cool apps using SwiftUI in XCode.

Our group discussed the experience of living alone for the first time and how we realized we need to be mindful of the amount of money we spend. We wanted to make an app that would have been useful to us when we first moved out.

What it does

Penny Wise allows you to track your transactions, and see how much of your allocated budget you have remaining. Along with storing your transaction history for previous months to compare to.

How we built it

We built it using SwiftUI in XCode.

Challenges we ran into

Learning to use SwiftUI and XCode for the first time was the major challenge, along with figuring out how groupmates without macbooks could contribute, without having access to the very useful features in XCode.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are super proud of all of the work we have. This is our first hackathon, first app, and first time using SwiftUI. Having anything to submit at all is a massive accomplishment for our team.

What we learned

We realized that app development is not as daunting as we originally thought, some basics of using SwiftUI to create IOS apps, the experience of building something in a short amount of time, and overall what a hackathon entails.
