Inspiration
We wanted to create a game about protecting yourself against scams and fraud, and encourage people to help others while building their own savings, which would make people feel good about building their savings.
What it does
Although in early stages, when finished the player will run around a city as a cat themed superhero trying to save people from scams. Once they have saved someone, thy would be rewarded with more money in their savings pot, which overall would make them more powerful and able to help others.
How we built it
We used unreal engine blueprints to code and blender for some 3D models. The textures and concept art were made in procreate.
Challenges we ran into
Time-management and not having enough time to complete everything we wanted to or spending too much time on one section. Specific issues with coding such as problems with picking up money or damage. Issues in engine with the textures.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working well as a team to brainstorm lots of ideas. Managing to produce a game concept with this being the majority of our teams first game jam.
What we learned
Not to overestimate how much we could do in the time. How important it is to talk to the client and get feedback on our idea. It was good to get experience talking to a real life client.
What's next for Coin CATastrophe
Working on finishing the game as it is to its MVP stage.
