Inspiration - Safety The idea for CoGo was inspired by the need for safer, more trustworthy ride-sharing options. For many, especially women, the thought of riding with strangers in traditional services like Uber Pool feels risky. We envisioned a solution that prioritizes safety by leveraging the familiarity and trust of colleagues within the same organization.
What It Does CoGo is a colleague-exclusive carpooling platform that connects employees within the same company or organization for their daily commutes and corporate events. It ensures a safer, more cost-effective, and convenient way to share rides by automating the process of matching drivers and passengers. Additionally, CoGo fosters networking opportunities among employees while reducing commuting expenses and environmental impact.
How We Built It We designed CoGo with three core user groups in mind: riders, drivers, and companies. • Riders can register, select rides, check passenger lists, and pay through the app. • Drivers can post rides, accept or decline riders, and bid a price for their service. • Companies can access a green dashboard to monitor employee engagement, estimate environmental savings, and track potential government incentives. The platform integrates secure user verification (corporate email-based signups) and automated ride-matching algorithms to ensure a seamless experience.
Challenges We Ran Into 1 Safety Assurance: Ensuring trust among users required robust verification processes and in-app safety features like passenger lists and driver reviews. 2 Adoption Barriers: Convincing companies and employees to try a new platform required careful communication of value and targeted onboarding strategies. 3 Balancing Driver Compensation and Rider Affordability: We needed to optimize pricing models to ensure rides remain economical while rewarding drivers fairly.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of • Successfully creating a platform that addresses the primary concerns of safety, cost, and convenience for corporate commuters. • Developing automated ride-matching features that save both time and money for employees and companies. • Incorporating a green dashboard that helps organizations track their contribution to environmental sustainability and employee engagement.
What We Learned • Safety is the most significant factor influencing ride-sharing adoption, particularly among women. • Companies are more likely to adopt tools that align with their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals and offer tangible benefits like cost savings and increased employee satisfaction. • Simple, user-friendly design and clear communication are key to onboarding new users and ensuring engagement.
What's Next for CoGo Carpooling 1 Pilot Programs: Launch pilot partnerships with mid-to-large companies in cities like Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. 2 Advanced Features: Implement features like recurring ride scheduling and gamified incentives for frequent users. 3 Corporate Expansion: Secure corporate partnerships and subscriptions for enterprise-level dashboards and event planning tools. 4 Sustainability Metrics: Expand environmental tracking capabilities to show real-time carbon savings to users and organizations. 5 Regional Growth: Scale to additional cities and regions based on pilot success.
