Inspiration
As a team with an entrepreneurial background, we noticed that a lot of people had ideas, but had no one to work on them with. As a solution to that problem, we created this platform. This platform offers an easy way for people to find their future cofounders.
What it does
Cofounder Match pairs people interested in similar industries, and then further shortens the list by matching people using geographical and role preferences.
How we built it
We built the back end on PostgreSQL database through the Django ORM. The front end was built on react .js.
Challenges we ran into
Half of our team was unable to compete due to multiple reasons. My friend and I had to learn Django and React while building the application. We also did not have enough time to implement certain features such as a calendar integration, instant messaging, saving favorites, a more developed algorithm for pairing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully deployed after lots of learning in a short amount of time. We were able to create a deployable app in react, PostgreSQL, and Django after learning it in a short period of time. We were able to execute a really big design challenge, where we went from ideation, to wireframing, to prototyping, to production.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Django, PostgreSQL, and react.js. We also learned how to do networking requests, and pass data from the front end to the backend. We also learned how to prevent migration conflicts through separated database systems.
What's next for CoFounder Match
We want to develop our algorithm to better be able to pair people together based on their skills, interests, and potential roles. We also want to add a calendar integration and instant messaging built into the platform to streamline networking.
