Inspiration

As teams become more remote and distributed, informal human connections fade first. People want to talk to coworkers outside their immediate team or role, but there’s no natural trigger to make it happen. That early social isolation often leads to disengagement and, eventually, attrition. We were inspired to create a simple, joyful way to restore serendipity at work.

What it does

CoffeeLoop is an AI-powered random coffee agent for companies. Every week, it automatically pairs employees across teams and seniority for a 15-minute coffee chat, schedules it via Slack and Calendar, nudges participants to join, and then turns those moments into a weekly photo collage that celebrates real human connections.

How we built it

We built CoffeeLoop as a lightweight agent-based system:

Slack is used for onboarding, opt-in, and notifications
Calendar integration handles automatic scheduling
An AI agent manages weekly pairing logic, avoids repetition, and maintains state
A simple media pipeline collects shared photos and generates a weekly collage summarizing meetups

The focus was on making the system feel real, usable, and shippable within one day.

Challenges we ran into

Designing “randomness” that still feels intentional and comfortable
Keeping the demo simple while showing real value
Balancing automation with consent and user trust
Building end-to-end functionality under tight hackathon time constraints
