Inspiration

Each time you go to Starbucks, you passes pass dozens of potentially awesome people. What if we could take the randomness and awkwardness out of saying hi to another person with similar interests over coffee? That's where Coffee Talk comes in.

How it works

Coffee Talk uses your location and finds the nearest Starbucks. Then you can see other users within a small radius of the store and attempt to match with them based on their interests and profile information. Users are able to log in through Facebook and push the existing information to Coffee Talk's Parse database. Coffee Talk compares your interests to those around you to give to produce a potentially awesome coffee talk.

Challenges I ran into

Using Facebook Parse on iOS while simultaneously using the Facebook SDK. The build dependencies conflicted as each was using a different SDK version, thus making compiling very difficult and ultimately improbable.

What I learned

We learned a lot about the interaction between mobile apps and web backends, including pulling and pushing data, and optimizing geolocation.

What's next for Coffee Talk

Full and complete Android and iOS apps which utilize real user data and matching algorithms to get a coffee talk together.
