Inspiration
During my job hunt, the one thing that dreaded me the most used to be technical interviews. The reason was simple, there was so much content to cover from DSA to ML, from DevOps and DevSecOps to GitOps and I did not know where to begin. As a result, I would either over-prepare, or under-prepare. There were mock interview preparation tools available in the market, but hardly any of them were free and almost none of them were customized enough to drill down to the actual keywords that I needed to incorporate in my preparation.
What it does
The Interview Gym takes your intended job title and job description and generates the related keywords you can use to add to your resume, lists down interview questions related to the position and job description and has a chat bot to give more information regarding the technical interview questions a candidate might have.
How I built it
The Interview Gym is built using PartyRock and utilizes the potential of Jurassic-2 Ultra and Claude to help candidates land their dream job by helping them prepare for their technical interviews. The app has two widgets to take Position and Job Description from user as an input and three widgets.
- The first widget lists down the important keywords based on Job description, qualifications and position.
- The second widget lists down all possible technical questions a candidate may be asked based on position and keywords.
- The third widget is an AI chatbot where a candidate can ask more specific questions or just copy/paste one of the questions from Technical Questions widget to get more clarifications.
Challenges I ran into
I wanted to make the chat bot ask technical questions based on keywords and job description. However currently it only replies to the questions asked by the user (the user has to ask first). I hope I could fix this part of the chat bot.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The end product is accurate, and responds to queries promptly. Anyone can use The Interview Gym to train for their technical interviews and land their dream job. The keywords section can also be used by candidates to incorporate appropriate keywords into their resume to tailor it more according to the job they are applying for.
What I learned
I learned a lot about Machine Learning, Claude and Jurassic-2 and prompt engineering. Its the usage of the right prompts that enabled The Interview Gym to be so precise and accurate when it comes to mock interviews.
What's next for The Interview Gym: Train for the Big Day
I would love to add complex puzzles, riddles, and small logical challenges generated by AI according to the position and job description a candidate has applied for. I would also love to add a Feedback widget where The Interview Gym would give feedback calculated by answers provided by the candidate deciding whether they will make it to the next phase of the recruitment process or not.
