The main motivation behind doing this project was an incident that happened with me. I bought a ticket from the conductor in a crowded bus and since i had paid money initially and the conductor did not have enough change to pay me back. Before alighting the bus, however, i forgot to take back the change. That is when the idea struck me as to why not make an android app so i can just buy the ticket through my phone and pay the exact money.
In modern times, most people have android phones and are app savvy, this app can be used by any user with ease. This app also eases the job of the conductor whose community isn't a small populous. The validation of the ticket is also easy since each transaction made is written onto a log which can be viewed by the user as well as BMTC officials. In the times when people are going green, this saves the amount of paper used in printing tickets (however less it may be, something is better than nothing right?). A list of stops of the a bus of a particular route, people needn't worry about boarding the wrong bus or asking the driver/conductor if the bus goes to the particular destination.
Travel by BMTC, because it's easy (sounds good :P)
