Inspiration# UrbanHeatX
Inspiration
UrbanHeatX was inspired by the increasing impact of urban heat waves in cities. Every year, extreme heat affects thousands of people, especially children, elderly citizens, and outdoor workers. We wanted to build a smart platform that helps citizens and city authorities monitor heat risk and take preventive action.
What it does
UrbanHeatX is an AI-powered Urban Heat Management System. It provides:
- Real-time weather and heat index monitoring.
- Heat risk prediction for different city areas.
- Citizen heat incident reporting.
- Nearby hospitals and water station locator.
- Emergency dashboard for authorities.
- Commissioner dashboard for data-driven decision making.
How we built it
- Frontend: React + TypeScript + Vite + Tailwind CSS
- Backend: FastAPI (Python)
- Database: SQLite
- APIs: Weather API integration
- Version Control: Git & GitHub
Challenges we ran into
- Integrating frontend with backend APIs.
- Managing real-time weather data.
- Designing a clean dashboard for different user roles.
- Deploying the application and configuring GitHub and Vercel.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a complete end-to-end smart city solution.
- Successfully integrated multiple dashboards.
- Created an intuitive and responsive UI.
- Implemented AI-based heat risk prediction.
What we learned
- React and FastAPI integration.
- REST API development.
- Git and GitHub collaboration.
- Deploying full-stack applications.
What's next for UrbanHeatX
- Live satellite heat map integration.
- AI-based heatwave forecasting.
- Mobile application.
- SMS and WhatsApp heat alerts.
- IoT sensor integration for real-time temperature monitoring.
