Inspiration
Learning to code can be lonely and frustrating. Documentation is often dry, and errors are cryptic. We wanted to bring the "Vibe" back to coding. Inspired by the AI Vibe Hackathon, we created a tool that doesn't just process code—it feels it. Whether you need a drill sergeant to discipline your messy code or a sweet grandma to comfort you after a SegFault, CodeVibe is the companion you need.
What it does
CodeVibe is a bilingual (English/Spanish), interactive coding companion with 7 distinct personalities.
- Multi-Personality Engine: Choose from 7 Vibes, including the Drill Sergeant (demanding), Sweet Grandma (loving), Chill Bro (slang-heavy), Pirate (adventurous), Zen Master (calm), Hacker (paranoid), and Patient Professor.
- 4 Action Modes: It doesn't just explain; it can Fix Bugs, Document Code, and Optimize Performance based on the chosen persona.
- Interactive Chat: Unlike static tools, CodeVibe maintains a chat history so you can ask follow-up questions.
- Hybrid Voice Synthesis: It speaks to you! We implemented a hybrid system using Edge TTS (fast & free neural voices) as the default and ElevenLabs as a premium option for ultra-realistic emotion.
- Bilingual Support: Fully functional in both English and Spanish.
How we built it
We prioritized speed and accessibility.
- The Brain (AI): We used the Groq API running Llama 3.3 70B. This creates near-instant responses, essential for a real-time chat experience.
- The Voice (TTS): We engineered a robust TTS system. We integrated Edge TTS (Microsoft Azure via Python) for high-quality, zero-latency free voices, and added ElevenLabs API integration for users demanding premium realism.
- The Frontend: Built with Streamlit. We customized the UI with dark mode themes, hidden default menus for a clean app-like feel, and persistent session state to handle the chat history.
- Multilingual Logic: We designed a dynamic prompt engineering system that switches the system instructions and voice accents instantly based on the selected language (ES/EN).
Challenges we ran into
Integrating multiple TTS engines was tricky. We had to handle asynchronous audio generation (using asyncio for Edge TTS) inside a synchronous Streamlit app. Also, managing the "Context Window" for the chat history so the AI remembers previous code snippets without crashing memory was a fun challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Migrating to Groq: The speed difference is insane. The app feels alive.
- 7 Unique Personas: Each one has a distinct voice (accent/tone) and vocabulary.
- Accessibility: Making it fully bilingual and free to use (thanks to Edge TTS).
What's next for CodeVibe
We plan to add IDE extensions (VS Code) and a "Voice Cloning" feature so users can have their own voice explain their code back to them.

What it does (Lo que hace)
How we built it (Cómo lo construimos)
