We created the Typing Speed Tracker to help users improve their typing speed and accuracy in a simple and engaging way. Many students and developers spend a lot of time typing, but they do not have an easy way to measure their performance and track their improvement. Our goal was to build a tool that makes typing practice useful, measurable, and motivating.
What We Built
Our project is a web-based Typing Speed Tracker that allows users to take typing tests and instantly see their performance. It measures typing speed in WPM (Words Per Minute), accuracy, correct and incorrect characters, and overall performance.
How We Built It
We developed the project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend and implemented the typing-test logic using JavaScript. The system calculates typing speed and accuracy based on the user's input and displays the results after each test.
Challenges We Faced
One of the main challenges was accurately calculating typing speed and accuracy while the user was typing in real time. We also had to handle incorrect characters, timing, and result calculation properly. Testing and debugging helped us improve the accuracy and user experience of the application.
What We Learned
Through this project, we learned how to build an interactive web application, handle real-time user input, calculate typing performance, and design a user-friendly interface. We also improved our problem-solving, teamwork, and debugging skills while developing the project.
Future Improvements
In the future, we plan to add user accounts, performance history, leaderboards, different difficulty levels, multiple languages, and AI-based personalized typing recommendations.
