CodeSnap - Instant AI Code Explanations

What it does

CodeSnap instantly demystifies complex code. Users can paste any code snippet, choose an explanation style (detailed, simplified, or commented code), and receive a comprehensive, AI-generated explanation in seconds. It’s built to be a go-to tool for developers for code reviews, students for learning, and technical writers for documentation.

How we built it

CodeSnap was built using Bolt.new for rapid frontend development and a custom Cloudflare Worker to securely handle API requests to the Together AI model. This architecture ensures the app is fast, scalable, and secure.

• Frontend: React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vite (all scaffolded with Bolt.new).
• Backend API: Cloudflare Worker acting as a secure proxy.
• AI: Together AI's DeepSeek-V3 model for high-quality code analysis.
• Deployment: Deployed seamlessly via Netlify.

Custom Domain Challenge

For the Custom Domain Challenge, we secured the domain code-snap.online through IONOS. We chose this domain because it perfectly encapsulates the app's function in a short, memorable, and modern way.

• .online: A modern TLD that signifies its status as a web-based tool, available to anyone, anywhere.

It follows all the best practices recommended by the judge: it's short, simple, easy to say, and uses a modern TLD to stand out.

What's next for CodeSnap

While CodeSnap is a complete and polished tool today, the vision is to expand it with features like voice explanations (ElevenLabs), AI video tutors (Tavus), and team collaboration features (Supabase) to become a comprehensive code-learning platform.
