Inspiration

The idea of the SpaceX Inspiration4 mission bringing space tourism closer to reality is an interesting cause to look into and the various ways people can facilitate the growing success of space tourism. Users being able to advertise their products or businesses while other users could pay for their products or services was also an interesting idea the team have been working on. We decided to include it in our project to make the app more diverse and attractive. This Hackathon would help address the possible problems before they become pressing.

What it does

In this project we are addressing problems of space tourism and ticket booking. As people wishes to travel to the space, The high transaction charges on credit cards and wire transfers make it hassle for the customer. More in detail, CodePay does the follow:

ONE TIME SIGN UP: On codepay, users create Rapyd virtual account Wallet by a one-time sign-up process. Users have options for personal or company Wallet, they provide their personal details (name, email, phone number and date of birth), Address details (country, home, state, city and zip code) and other details which includes nationality, Identification type which varies by nationalities, ID number and 4-digit pin required for authentication. User’s emails, pin and generated eWallet are uploaded to codepay users database.

DOCUMENT VERIFICATION: On Codepay app, users can upload required documents for verification and frontal face picture is uploaded to cloudinary while the cloudinary response URL is uploaded to codepay users DB as users profile picture.

CREATE VIRTUAL ACCOUNT: Users can create virtual accounts of different currencies, fund their account and check individual account transactions from our app.

BOOK SPACE TRIP TICKET: customers can book for a space ticket by clicking on the pay now button. Codepay accepts all payment in multiple local bank payments methods in customer’s local currencies and allow Two-Step Payment, (Make a Deposit and Pay the Remaining Amount before lift-off). Customers can book tickets for multiple seats and select their desired take off date.

FUND REFUND: Codepay has a refund policy which enables users to request for a payback after a space ticket payment.

B2B TRANSACTION: On codepay, business owners can advertise their products and services for other customers or business owners to patronize them. Customers can pay for a product, call a business owner and query a business or product. A transaction charge of 5% of the transaction amount is applied for every transaction on our app.

QrCode SECURED TRANSACTION: users can initiate a transaction by generating a transaction QrCode which would contain their transaction details while the sender scans the QrCode to complete the transaction.

MEET-UP FORUM: Codepay creates a room for customers to linkup before and after their trip. It allows users to meet new people from different countries and share their flight experience.

SPACE TIPS: Codepay sends 12 hourly space tips push notification to users. These notifications engage users with space tips and what they need to know and Increase User Retention.

How we built it

The project started a couple of months ago with some realisations and learnings - coming from our own experience and research in space travel. After few weeks learning and researching, we then moved into the ideation where all team members contributed to the wonderful idea.
The ideation and planning phase took a total time span of 2-3 weeks. Following this, the building and development phase consumed the remaining time before the submission deadline.

Challenges we ran into

Several challenges delayed our submission. The first and most significant is the use of Rapyd virtual account API. Secondly is human management in task designation and finally unstable power supply. Notwithstanding, we conquered all challenges to come up with our solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In general, we’re quite proud of submitting a solution that works (given that we implemented it in a couple of weeks). We implemented a cashback payment system, secured Qrcode transaction system, two times customer payment and a meet-up chat forum for space travelers. This interface doesn’t only work technically, but it’s also visually appealing and it has some level of UX validation.

What we learned

Working on this project, therefore, gave us a better understanding of this new API; the open aspect (using SandBox), and the paid API services (the product). The entire building process was more like a learning process.

What's next for CodePay

CodePay dreams of building a global space banking app as a one-stop solution for all space traveller. With codePay, a traveller can securely login and book for space ticket and able to meet other traveller to make space travelling fun. CodePay users can as well hit the market with app.
