Inspiration
Our goal was to blend the accessibility of Khan Academy with the enjoyment of social media.
What it does
Our app allows the user to browse and save events, resources, and workshops posted by the nonprofit. If a location is included, the user can reference an embedded google maps function. If a time is included, the user can automatically add the event to iCal.
How we built it
The events are stored in Google's firebase, with a collection for each tab in the app. The app itself was constructed in Xcode, using Swift as the language. The code is attached to this submission.
Challenges we ran into
Securing the firebase database from adversaries while allowing the app to access it seamlessly, formatting the different screens to be aesthetically pleasing, and choosing appropriate event categories were all important challenges that we needed to overcome.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The embedded google maps and calendar functions are the two accomplishments that we are most proud of.
What we learned
We learned to always keep the target audience of our design in mind. Its easy to get lost in the code, but we tried to always be goal-oriented in our work so we could better serve the non-profit.
What's next for CodeLinc
We're excited for another opportunity to showcase our skills!
