As a group of freshman computer science students with a lack of resources, we wanted to create a product that would help beginners like us improve our programming skills. Inspired by existing software like Leetcode and Replit, we wanted to make something that would combine all the tools needed to succeed.
Our company, CodeHelper, is an interactive, multifunctional site made for students and advanced programmers who want a place to improve their skills, engage with our programming community or free-write code. Our interactive chatbot, AKA your personal CodeHelper, is a resource readily available to use to help with any programming tasks.
When you sign up, codehelper will prompt you to select the languages you want to work on as well as your programming levels to personalize your experience.
Here are our services/features:
- Import & edit code. With CodeHelper, you can import files of code or even upload pictures/pdfs which will be put through an OCR to make sure you are able to code without worrying about the small stuff.
- As mentioned, our CodeHelper chatbot will help you with any task but you can also access it separately to ask questions about anything you’d like.
- Our site also has a robust array of practice questions for any skill level. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, and advanced programmer, there are numerous programming questions for you for customizable topics.
- With our Collabs/Forums feature, you can engage with other programmers, ask for help on your code or practice questions or just socialize. This is also a space for issues you may have.
- Our Study Tools feature allows you to do test-style practice questions and also get notes on any subject/programming language you are studying.
- Finally, our New Project feature will let you create a new file in any programming language of your choice and open a code editor.
We built this site on Figma using its prototyping features to create a model of what the site will look like. We also used tools like canva, images and hand-drew drawings to create visuals as well as our mascot.
Using Figma has a learning curve and learning how to create flows and a working prototype was challenging. We’re proud to have multiple functional flows in our website and we hope to see this product come to life.
