Inspiration
We briefly touched on all 3 challenges in our initial discussion and have chosen to target challenge statement 2. The reason for this is that we coincidentally have many close friends who had to move to Singapore for various reasons. Some migrated here and some are coming here for education or exchange purposes. We felt that we are able to relate with this issue the most which consequently resulted in us feeling the most strongly for this challenge statement.
What it does
Overall, the idea of this app is a one-stop solution for those residing overseas who wish to move to Singapore.
How we built it
We used Figma to do our wireframing and did some prototyping on the actual app and deployed it on Heroku. However, the heroku app is incomplete.
Challenges we ran into
Time was limited and our experience in coding a web app was even more limited. However we channelled our energy and effort into providing a more detailed wireframe so that our idea can be put across.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learnt the steps needed to start a project like this. From Customer Journey Mapping, to defining and understanding the challenge statements and needs, there were many new insights we had with regards to product development. We also learnt the importance of collaboration. In the welcome address, it was mentioned that collaborative and agile are values of Govtech's. We had to be flexible with what we can do in these 2 days and also had to work together very closely to move forward as a team.
What we learned
Time management is crucial when we only have 2 and a half days to create a prototype. We have to prioritise what is needed in the initial proposal and neglect small extra details that are not crucial in the early phases of development.
What's next for Codefiesta
Next would be us hopefully making it into round 2 and then presenting our idea to the judges, and if the idea is feasible, we would hopefully like to see it enter a deeper development phase and eventually helping out the society especially those who wish to live in this clean and green and lovely country we call home.
