Inspiration
This hackathon inspired us! We were thinking about how hard it was to find other users to collaborate with on software projects so we thought of this site!
What it does
Its a platform to collaborate with other users on projects they are both passionate about.
How we built it
We used NextJS as our full stack framework (a Reach framework), TypeScript for both front and back end, MaterialUI for the front end library, Mongodb for the database, Google authentication for authentication, GitHub for version control and collaboration, and Vercel to deploy the website.
Challenges we ran into
It was both our first hackathon so it may have been a bit rocky start but because we have worked together before, I think it was easy to get our footing down! It was also our first times using google authentication and mongodb and we were still relatively new at using React so it was a bit of a challenge to connect everything together, but overall it was a fun process!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Seeing everything work the way we intended is accomplishment enough! Jaren enjoyed connecting Mongodb to the project and seeing the projects being inserted into the table, and Julia was proud of figuring out how Google Authentication worked and seeing the profile logged into our website!
What we learned
We learned how important it is to plan most of the stuff before actually coding the project! We had a different idea in mind initially before we pivoted to what we have now but thankfully both of those ideas were similar so it was easy to transition.
What's next for CodeCoop
We will fully implement all the features in the future and hopefully deploy the website somewhere to get some collaboration done with other users!
