Description
HackaGallery is an online platform to showcase projects/prototypes submitted to hackathon events.
Background
Hackathon events (especially those hosted on-site) tend to be short on time nowadays. Even with a demonstration phase, problems exist eg.:
- Not all projects have the opportunity to be on the stage
- The time to demonstrate is short, the presenter may be not at best status, which makes the project not fully exposed
- Except those won the prizes, the projects got "vanished" easily after the event concluded.
- Except those hosted on well-structured platforms, many hackathon events lack reliable trackable records, making it difficult to retrospectively review or evaluate projects.
- Hackathon events are scattered on different platforms, those who participated in various events lack the mechanism to track and show off their records on the big picture.
Solution
HackaGallery is an attempt to address these problems by:
- Collecting different hackathon events
- Giving opportunities to every project that's submitted to an event
- Showcasing projects across all events or in a specific event
- Tracking participants (a team or an individual) across all events
Besides, HackaGallery aims to:
- Take record of the prizes of projects
- Verify the identity of events/participants
- Keep records of ideas so that others could be inspired by or avoiding them
Target Audiences
- Organizers: They could create an event record, accept submissions, verify prizes, etc.
- Hackers: They could create a project record, provide details and/or metadata.
- Investors: They could view and optionally filter projects based on their interests, and contact hackers for further opportunities.
- Audience: They could view hackathon events and individual projects.
