Code Red

Inspiration

Our team noticed that a lot of the dispensers around campus in bathrooms, meant to have free period products, were almost always empty. We don't know how often they get restocked and there is no way to know which bathroom has tampons or pads without checking all of them. So we designed a website that tells you where you can find menstrual products without having to check multiple different bathrooms.

What it does

Code Red is a website that tracks how full dispensers are for period products. It contains a map where student users can see what bathrooms near them have products so they know where to go. This website connects to the dispensers in the bathrooms, which have sensors showing how full they are. There is also a staff view which shows staff-members which bathrooms need to be restocked with menstrual products.

What's next for Code Red

In the future we would likely try to implement our dispensers into bathrooms around campus and connect them to our website. In addition, we would see if we can also create dispensers for pads as well, because our current prototype only works for tampons.
