Cocoon Weaver is a short-form VR experience that places the participant's own body at the center of spatial transformation. Using slow, deliberate gestures, the participant gradually constructs a cocoon around themselves, layering material, light, and sound. There are no menus, no symbolic controls, and no narrative objectives. The environment is shaped entirely through natural motion and spatial awareness.
As the cocoon forms, the environment becomes increasingly enclosed. The participant experiences a gradual transition from openness to containment, creating a heightened awareness of scale, personal space, and embodiment inside VR.
Immersive Presence is established through a sense of physical consequence. Every gesture changes the feeling of the environment, and as layers accumulate, the environment contracts. The open space becomes intimate, then enclosed.
Virtual Embodiment sits at the core of the interaction design by making the participant constantly aware of their own body as the center of the experience. Human-object interaction is intuitive because the cocoon is formed through physical movement and hand tracking, rather than symbolic controls. Participants feel like they’re physical building a cocoon around themselves.
Human-Object Interaction is intuitive because the material being shaped is the space itself. There are no abstract objects to grab or manipulate, and the cocoon material emerges from the participant's own gestures and proximity. Interaction feels instinctive rather than learned, lowering the barrier to presence and reducing cognitive friction. The reactive sound and light layers provide immediate, readable feedback that reinforces each action without requiring instruction.
Immersive Travel is an internal journey rather than a geographic one. A minimal open space transforms, through sustained interaction, into a living enclosure charged with atmosphere and tension. When the cocoon finally bursts and releases a swarm of butterflies, that enclosed world suddenly opens outward. The environment then resets, inviting the cycle to begin again.
The looping structure reflects themes of vulnerability, comfort, and renewal. Technically, the experience prioritizes performance, stability, and perceptual comfort: simple but highly reactive interactions, smooth looping transitions, and clear visual feedback designed to minimize disorientation and maximize presence. The result is a meditative ritual in mixed reality.
