What does it do

Introducing CoConnect, the app that matches tutors and tutees with just a swipe! Our user-friendly platform allows you to find the perfect tutor or tutee with ease and simplicity. Just like swiping on a dating app, you can swipe right on a tutor or tutee you'd like to connect with and start chatting right away. Our messaging feature allows you to communicate directly with your match, making it easy to set up sessions and get started on your learning journey. With CoConnect, finding a tutor or tutee has never been easier or more fun.

How we built it

To build CoConnect, we used a combination of technologies and tools that allowed us to create a functional and visually appealing app that met the needs of our users. We started with the design phase, and for that, we used Figma, a popular platform that allows for collaborative design and prototyping. Using Figma, we were able to create a wireframe that gave us a clear idea of how the app would look and function. We could also share our designs with our team members and clients, who could give us feedback and suggestions for improvement. This made the design process more efficient and allowed us to create a better user experience. Once we had a solid design, we moved on to the frontend development. We chose to use React Native, a framework for building mobile applications for both iOS and Android. One of the main advantages of React Native is that it allows for code reuse between platforms, which makes development faster and more efficient. We also used a number of libraries and packages to enhance the app's functionality and improve the user experience. For example, we used React Navigation to handle the app's navigation and react-native-elements to add UI components like buttons and forms. For the backend, we decided to use Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. Node.js is a server-side JavaScript runtime that allows for fast and scalable development, while Express.js is a web application framework that simplifies server-side programming. MongoDB, on the other hand, is a NoSQL database that allows for flexible and scalable data storage.

Challenges we ran into

One specific challenge we encountered was determining the priority of tasks when there were conflicting opinions or priorities from different team members. To address this challenge, we held regular team meetings to discuss and prioritize tasks based on their importance, urgency, and impact on the project's overall success. We also used project management tools, such as Trello or Asana, to track and organize tasks, assign them to team members, and ensure that they were completed on time. Another problem we faced was the integration of MongoDB and Node.js. Although both technologies are widely used and popular, the process of integrating them was tricky. It became quite difficult to pinpoint the source of bugs which demanded a lot of our time.

With our new payment options, you can securely pay for sessions using a variety of payment methods, so you can focus on learning instead of worrying about payment logistics. In addition, we hope to add a scheduling feature that will allow you to book sessions with your tutor at a time that works for both of you, making it easier than ever to fit tutoring into your busy schedule.
