Coco – your AI furry friend

Project Description(Problem)

The market for mental health solutions, especially for Gen Z, is rapidly expanding. There's a growing recognition of the importance of mental well-being, coupled with a preference for digital solutions among teenagers. Approximately 20% of teenagers experience a mental health disorder during any given year. The U.S. Surgeon General calls youth mental health “the defining public health crisis of our time. Teenagers are especially hard to engage with because of their limited attention span. There is a need for something that is fun and authentic.

Project Description(Product)

Coco delivers mental health support in a way that feels like a friend, not a clinic. It gamifies the entire experience. Teens can play with their virtual pet Coco, drop notes into a gratitude jar, and receive a motivational quote each day as a push notification. By combining supportive conversations with interactive features, Coco improves the wellbeing of the user.

Tech Stack Used

We started by developing a full-stack web application with nodejs backend and react frontend. We deployed the webapp on Vercel and aws ec2, and configured the domain talktococo.club for the chatbot. We then built an ios app on swift and xcode and added many additional features like the pet, gratitude jar, resources, memory system and image uploads to the chatbot.
