Inspiration

It has happened to many quite few times where I have gone to a beach only to find out camping or fishing is not allowed or having to park my vehicle kilometers away since the beach doesnot have parking provisions. This inspired me to make a web app which shows various parameters like if the beach allows camping or do people play volleyball there etc. Hope this app gives a slight relief to people who want to know about their favourite beach.

What it does

It takes a query for a beach (currently confined to California beaches only) and returns a list of parameters related to it.

How we built it

With a lot of pain and hardwork and using node, express, ejs html css and javascript.

Challenges we ran into

It was my first time integrating an api with a web application. Also the front end design took a lot of my time and patience since they were not rendering how I wanted to. I was pretty frustrated with the front end but really felt proud when they worked out perfectly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am really proud that I was able to integrate the api with my own web app and worked on the entire frontend and backend alone. Also learnt a lot about front end by working through the designs.

What we learned

How to integrate back end with api and how to make beautiful unique front end designs.

What's next for beacation

-As you might have noticed, currently it only provides data which is confined to California beaches since I was short on time. My next and most immediate goal will be to integrate apis or find an api which can give me data about worldwide beaches.

-Making a feature where people can provide details about their trip to the beach and review it.
