Inspiration
Coding agents spend a lot of time waiting for someone to say yes. That moment doesn't need a desk, just a clear view of what's about to happen and two buttons: a TV and a remote.
What it does
Couchmode is an Agent Client Protocol (ACP) client for Fire TV. Your agent (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Kiro) runs on your laptop against a real project. The Fire TV shows its work in 10-foot type, and you approve its edits and commands with the remote or your phone. The first answer wins.
How I built it
A TypeScript bridge on the laptop is the ACP client and serves the UI over Wi-Fi. The Fire TV app is a dependency-free Kotlin WebView shell, tested on a real Fire TV Stick.
Challenges and what I learned
Real hardware breaks assumptions: Chromium's error page fires onPageFinished, MENU has to be forwarded by hand, and large animations drop frames.
