Coaches can't be everywhere, CoachCatch lets coaches train athletes remotely. A student can workout and have a model rate their form and count their reps, reporting data to coaches wherever, whenever.
We are student athletes, when school would be put on pause during breaks, Sports and our practices would be halted. This stalled progress and online alternatives were lackluster, either virtual platforms were glorified self-report checklists or youtube video playlists. Why not use AI to verify and modernize the field on online athletics and enable school sports teams to organize and persevere through schedule shifts?
## What it does
CoachCatch feeds your workout to a model that not only counts your reps, but rates your form. It creates a platform where A; students can workout and upload their performance and B; coaches can see their athletes and their performances allowing teams to remain coordinated even when apart.
## How we built it
We used a Pose landmarker which allowed us to count reps and add them to a session for accurate data collection with algorithms to collect the data alongside allowing a breath analyzer to feed in additional data beyond just the model's collection. This feeds into a platform where one students can upload their workout performances with the data metrics, and then the coaches will then sign in and be able to gain access to their students and their performances.
## Challenges we ran into:
The model was initially unable to identify points on a person and moreover never informed users it couldn't process any of the data given. We had to finetune the model to accurately capture in videos then enabling data collection from our breath analyzer was a hurdle to integrate into our already existing project.
## Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finetuning the Pose Landmarker
Only drinking 4 monsters each
## What we learned
always add redundancy into any feature of your website
## What's next for CoachCatch
Potentially adding in an email or texting message feature for coaches to receive notifications of their students finishing their performances.
