Inspiration
We noticed that a lot of BRBs (the Cornell specific digital currency) are left unused at the end of each semester. We wanted to create additional value for expiring monies that would provide long-term satisfaction for students and alumni.
What it does
First and foremost, it's an NFT marketplace that allows colleges to release NFT collections. We provide an on-ramp to convert BRBs to BRCs (Big Red Coins) in a 1:1 ratio. We also provide an on-ramp for converting $1USD to 1BRC. We only allow Cornell to mint NFT collections in an effort to raise funds. We then ask other colleges to bring their own NFTs onto the platform that can only be bought with the college specific token, creating an ecosystem for every school. We then provide a DEX for users to exchange one school's token for another, according to some market function.
How we built it
We used Moralis to build a front-end prototype for our project and used Remix to deploy a smart contract on the Rinkeby testnet
Challenges we ran into
Making our own coin, minting an NFT, learning about how any of this works.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting Moralis running!
What we learned
Blockchain deployment, Web3 concepts, ReactJS, Contract development
What's next for cNFT
On-ramp, DEX, integration with mainnet
