Inspiration
As a CMU Student, we're constantly coming back home after midnight because of studying for midterms of finals. We wanted to make sure that all students can still get home safe!
What it does
It finds the most optimal route from your origin to destination, but makes sure you walk near as many Emergency Beacons as possible.
How we built it
We used the GoogleMaps API for functionality and React to create to application.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some struggles when trying to get the geolocations of all the Emergency Beacons on CMU's campus.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud creating an application that's necessary for all CMU student!
What we learned
We learned a lot about search algorithms and the GoogleMaps API.
What's next for CMU Safe
We'd liked to add more features, such as a call a friend and adding potential safe areas in buildings as well, to make our app even safer.
