Inspiration

Wondering about the teaching experience of the youth and desire to make it easier on teachers, we came with an online concept to allow teachers to streamline the process of informing parents of their children's behavior in the classroom

What it does

This application serves to replace the paper report cards that are given in K-5 education, removing the need for paper with a website that will allow for a better representation and easier way to manage a student's behavior

How we built it

Using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Github Pages, we used these technologies together to form a collaborative website for the first time ever.

Challenges we ran into

Working with multiple people as a group with a time constraint turned out to be the first of our challenges, with everybody working on different modules of code and having to worry about putting everything together. We also had to deal with technology issues as we could have taken the route of setting up a server to run backend software like Node.Js, though due to the time we felt like we could really go with the Github pages route. Another thing was working with HTML, CSS, & JavaScript fully for the first time. We had to basically learn those technologies on the fly and use research in order to have the stack working together. This meant that the website is the culmination of experimenting and doing what we could from scratch to learn.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being a part of a team and completing any project is something worth being proud about. No matter what the final product is, we were able to accomplish that and we're glad to have taken part in this hackathon.

What we learned

It is much more difficult to setup a website with different people and establish a workflow on the fly. However, we would say that it was a good thing to have been through that process as now, we can have some sort of baseline to work off of and improve our skills going on into the future.

What's next for SMT

We will be making our own websites given the knowledge that we have learned and developed over the past day. One thing is for certain though, this proves that we really want to do Computer Science.
