Inspiration

From one of the Microsoft Guidelines for inclusive design, I found one that implored us to think about the balance between intelligence and discovery. From this, we transitioned to attempt to make AI more humane and change the role of AI from master-slave to something else so as to create a deeper trust. This is when we explored other relationships such as student-teacher, student-student, helper.

What it does

It is a sensory firewall that helps autistic children to regulate their sensory inputs and handle their worlds with reduced adult intervention

How we went ahead with it

We prototyped scenarios that can cause sensory overload for the children and controlled for it

We learned

more about the challenges that autistic children face and saw how treatments and sensory integration therapy works

What's next for Clutterfree

Clutterfree requires the development of an AR headset that is AI-capable and lightweight so as to not cause discomfort to the child. It is a speculative design that needs significant advances in AR technology.
