Inspiration

In freshman year of high school, Vaanya was an avid member of the UNICEF club. She attended every meeting, sold as much merch as she could, and was a part of all of UNICEF's biggest volunteer opportunities. All of that effort went to waste, however, when her points disappeared at the end of the year. Similarly in the same year, Vedika was an avid member of the Environmental Club. She attended almost all of the meetings and attended all of the cleanups and hikes that she could. She even helped tend to the school garden. At the end of the year, however, the club secretary did not share anyone's points and nobody got their points. All of these problems could've been prevented by using something that could accurately provide information about clubs and make it easy for clubs to change volunteer points. That's why we made ClubTrack.

What it does

ClubTrack keeps track of multiple important aspects about a person's clubs in one place. For student accounts, ClubTrack keeps track of the clubs that the student is in, the student's club schedule for the week, and volunteer opportunities in those clubs. Students can join clubs through a specific code that is attached to the club. Most importantly, students can look at each club's profile to see how many points they have in each club. For club accounts, clubs can create a profile that includes the meeting number and day, advisor, club code, and more. Through ClubTrack a club board member can easily keep track of the club members' individual points and change them as needed. A club board member can also post volunteer opportunities through the app.

How we built it

We built the app with Figma. Figma is a platform that is great for app prototyping, and it was great for us to figure out the functionality of the app and the app's UI.

Challenges we ran into

We are both quite inexperienced in both hackathons and app development. Considering this is our first hackathon, we didn't know how exactly to go about creating the app. We also began with attempting to make the app with Flutter, but we found that the complexity of Flutter made it too difficult for us to properly create ClubTrack. Generally, our inexperience made the process harder for us, but we are hoping to use this hackathon to push us further in future hackathons.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the fact that we came up with ClubTrack in the limited time we have. Neither of us have made an app to this extent before, and considering the fact that we are beginners, we are very proud that we took the risk of trying to create an app like ClubTrack within 10 hours. The idea for ClubTrack is something that we have never seen before, and it's something that we think could be extremely helpful for students and school clubs if fully developed.

What we learned

We learned how to use Figma to create a good prototype for ClubTrack. Because of some of the features we were trying to make, we learned how to make specific elements and use the many helpful tools that are in Figma. We also learned what the process is like for app development, and how to properly time manage when trying to complete a big project in a limited amount of time.

What's next for ClubTrack

In the future, we hope to make ClubTrack a fully fledged app. We were limited in what we could make due to the fact that we didn't have a subscription for Figma and due to the fact that we didn't know how to use tools like Flutter, but we hope that in the future, after learning the proper tools, we can make it an actual app that clubs and students in our own school can use to keep track of important information regarding clubs.
