Stepping onto a college campus for the first time can be like opening a map with a thousand possible destinations and no clear point of origin. Everywhere you turn, there are posters, booths, and announcements for clubs, sports teams, and organizations, but being able to identify which ones are of interest to you is a different story. We built Clubbs with a single question in mind: what if discovering your community was as simple as opening an app?

Clubbs transforms a daunting and lengthy club directory into a personalized experience. When users first sign up, they are asked to complete a quick quiz about their interests and preferences. The app then creates a tailored feed of recommendations. Users can browse and filter by tags, follow clubs they are interested in, and save events to an in-app calendar function so that opportunities don’t get buried under the busy experience of college life. We also included a chatbot function that provides recommendations in a conversational way. Discovery feels more like talking to your smart friend rather than simply browsing through information.

Building Clubbs taught us that the hardest part wasn’t just coding features, it was shaping an experience that actually felt helpful. Organizing consistent club information, making the UI intuitive, and keeping personalization simple but meaningful were all challenges we had to work through quickly as a beginner team. In the process, we learned how powerful thoughtful design and teamwork can be, even on a tight timeline.

At its heart, Clubs is about belonging. It’s not just a tool to browse organizations. It’s a guide for students who want to explore, connect, and find the spaces where they feel most at home. By making discovery easier and more personal, we hope to turn curiosity into community, one club at a time.
