Inspiration
Some of our team members are officers in clubs and they found it difficult to consolidate all the different spreadsheets and google forms needed to calculate and keep track of finances and expenses. In an effort to solve this problem, we decided to create a website that contains all of these features in an all-encompassing, organized database.
What it does
Our website contains a calendar which shows the dates and allows club members to keep track of time and events. The to-do list is a place to write down the tasks that need to be completed. The budget is one of our best features and tracks the expenses and incomes of the club and shows transaction history. We also have a sign up and log in page.
How we built it
We build Clubjet using Glitch and HTML to create the website and all its features.
Challenges we ran into
Clubjet was not our initial idea. Previously, we had thought about creating an app about finding lost/stolen cars where we would allow people who lost their car to upload a description of their car and license plate. The other side of the app would provide a platform for people to upload images of as many cars as they can for certain points and prizes, making it a kind of game and helping people find their cars. We also had another idea to implement an Instagram Bot-checker that would look at the follower-following ratio and other variable to try and determine if a suspicious account was likely a bot.
In the end, however, we ran into several problems implementing these ideas so we decided to switch to our Club Jet idea.
Furthermore, we coded a jigsaw game just incase our Clubjet idea did not pan out as expected.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our budget page/feature and our color scheme/logo due to its creativity, ingenuity and application in our website.
What we learned
We learned how to code in HTML, work in a collaborative team-setting, and to use Glitch to program our website.
What's next for Clubjet
We want to add a clubfeature, as well as an opportunity for the clubs on the website to interact with other clubs and coordinate cross-club events.
